October Half Term Letter

Homework Task

As part of our current topic ‘Whose footprints are these?’ we want to investigate the effects of litter on our local environment. This weekend we would like you to walk around your local area and spot any litter that you see - you DO NOT have to pick it up unless you are wearing protective gloves or using special ‘litter-picking equipment’.

Please see the letter below for more information.

Year 3 Curriculum Talk - Autumn Term

Autumn Topic: 'Whose footprints are these?'

In Year 3 children will have the opportunity to explore lots of new topics; the first being 'Whose footprints are these?' which focuses on our local area, environmental issues such as littering, woodland habitats and the animals/plants that live there.

We started the topic exploring the footprints we leave behind when exploring a new place. We shared photos of the footprints made during the summer holidays.

During a pupil voice activity we thought about what we already know about woodlands and what we wanted to learn; the children posed lots of interesting questions like 'where do bees live?' and 'how important are bees to us?'

A local expert come into school to talk about the woodland habitat. We look forward to visiting our Heath Park woodland with Steve very soon!
