Summer Term

Road Trip USA

This term we will be learning all about America by travelling across different states. We will be learning about the history of the Brooklyn Bridge and writing a mini-sage on how it was built. Did you know they tested the bridge by walking 21 elephants across it? We will also be learning abut the first moon landing, sequencing the events and creating a comic. In science we will investigating forces and the effects they can have. During our math's lessons we will be learning about fractions and the relationship between division. We will be continuing to learn our times tables and use these to solve problems.

This term we will be covering different topics about friendships, body parts and how to keep our bodies safe and clean. If you would like more information on the content of these lessons please contact your child's class teacher.

Homework will be set weekly and will cover topics taught in class. Please ensure your child keeps up-to-date and completes their homework.

Birchgrove Spelling-Bee
This term we are focusing on spelling. Your child will be given a set of spellings appropriate to their level and will be asked to learn as many as they can, beating their personal best. They will be sponsored to take on this challenge. Please check your emails for more information.

Homework Update!

Hopefully, everyone has had the opportunity to log onto mymaths and complete the online homework for this week.

Remember to save and log out of the program afterwards so that your scores are updated on our system and we can see you have completed it.

Next week we will send out information about homework on Hwb. We will show the children in class what to do so they should be able to successfully complete the homework at home.

More details next week. smiley

Hello Blwyddyn 3!

Due to Corona virus, School Council will not be able to meet as normal this year. As a result we will be taking School Council online using Flipgrid.

Therefore, we will be using Flipgrid for our School Council applications. Follow the link for your class below to upload your video application. Make sure you look at the deadline for your class so you don't miss out.

We look forward to seeing your applications,
Miss Davies and Mrs Jenkins

Welcome to Year

Firstly we would like to thank you for helping your child adjust to the 'new normal' and we were pleased to see them come back with such lovely smiles! The children have all settled into back into the school routine and are enjoying their new classes.

Wild Wood
This context for learning is all about the woodland and the creatures that live there. Children will be learning about woodland animals, habitats and environmental issues. They will be writing poetry, creating artwork and investigating food chains. Please see the 'Star Letter' and 'Curriculum Talk' PowerPoint for more information.

Outdoor PE

Children will have an hour outside every Tuesday morning. You child must wear tracksuit bottoms (black/navy) and trainers to school.

In Year 3 we encourage children to have greater responsibility and independence. Please ensure your child has a pencil case with them everyday. Inside there should be; pencils, rubbers, a ruler and an assortment of coloured pencils.
