Miss Davies and Mrs McNamara

Happy Friday Everyone,

We have made it to Fri-YAY (as I like to call it)! We would just like to send you all a quick message;

To children of Year 3…you have ALL been Birchgrove Stars this week. We have enjoyed seeing the work you have been busy doing and have been very impressed with how well you have adapted to this new way of learning – you really have WOWED us with your efforts. We have particularly enjoyed reading your facts on the polar regions. Many of you found some interesting facts that taught us a thing or two! Thank you for getting up each day, logging on and completing the tasks we have set you. You ALL should be proud of your efforts because Mrs McNamara and I are!

To the parents/careers…we would like to say a huge thank you for all your support, particularly this week, in helping the children move their home learning to the new Google Classroom platform. The children and I could not have done this without you - this was a great team effort. We understand that everyone has different home circumstances and appreciate the time you have taken to support your child’s learning. The wellbeing meetings were a particular highlight and without your help these would not have been possible. It was a pleasure to see all their smiling faces and it was a great boost for all who took part. I am pleased that these will continue next week and that we are now able to offer more daily check-ins with your children. Once again, thank you – what you are doing is very much appreciated.

For the next week (18.1.21). Mrs McNamara will take over the children’s Home Learning/Google Classroom. If you have any questions or queries regarding home learning please contact Mrs McNamara via dojo or email (emcnamara@birchgroveprm.cardiff.sch.uk). Miss Davies will be running the Hub provision in school.

From next daily registration meetings will take place at 9.45 with all home learners via Google Meets. Your child have been set an invitation to attend these meeting which you will need to accept. Mrs Miles has sent you a video tutorial on how to do this via dojo. You will also find these on our school website (see ICT Help Guides).

We hope you have an equally restful and enjoyable weekend.

Miss Davies and Mrs McNamara

Home Learning - WB: 11.1.21

From Monday 11th January our home learning will move from this webpage to Google Classroom.

Below is a timetable for the week to give you an overview of the tasks set for each day. We would like children to engage in the tasks set and share their efforts with us. In using Google Classroom children will be able to 'hand in' their work for us to view, comment and share feedback.

Reading

Please find time to read daily with your child. This is an important skill that allows your child to access all areas of the curriculum with growing independence. This is a great time to be reading all the lovely books your were given over Christmas. Take time to dive into one of these books! In addition to reading a real book, Oxford Owl has a free EBooks for you to enjoy. Click here for Oxford Owl. Also, remember if you are a 'Nessy' user this platform can support your reading skills. Click here to go to 'Nessy'.

Maths

Please ensure that you keep up-to-date with your 'My Maths' activities. Spending a little time each day will help keep your math's skill sharp and will help you with all the other numeracy tasks we set. Use your log-ins to access this site. Click here to go to 'My Maths'.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to taking this next step in our home learning adventure together.
