High Frequency Words

To help your child read with more confidence and pace they should have a rapid recall of the first 100 high frequency words. Here is a list of the first 100 HFW that your child should know by the end of Year One.

Once your child has learnt the first 100 HFW there is the next 200 HFW which they should know by the end of Year Two.

After learning to read these words your child should learn how to spell them accurately.

If you would like any further information or help tips on how to teach these words please feel free to see a member of the Year One Team who will be happy to talk through some ideas with you.
