Fun Day Wednesday 23rd June
We have had a fantastic morning in the sunshine for our Fun Day. The children were really excited and got to take part in a variety of races, including the obstacle race, egg and spoon, balancing race and bean bag relay, as well as the sprint and whole class relay. They showed great sportsmanship cheering on their class mates. Bendigedig Blwyddyn Dau.
Great Fire of London Egg Drop Experiment
It is 1666 and Samuel Pepys needs to save his belongings. The Great Fire has already started burning his house and he has already buried his wine and cheese. Although he has now run out of time to bury anything else, so he needs to drop his eggs safely out of his window before they are damaged by the fire.
Year 2 were asked to conduct an experiment where they would have to think of a method to protect the egg and predict what would happen. The children were encouraged to choose from an array of different materials to protect their eggs. After their group had chosen a material they tested out their method and gather their results. The children then reflected upon their experiment and an 'egg-cellent' time was had by all!
Year 2 have had a great day learning all about life in the Pudding Lane Bakery as the introduction to our new context “The Great Fire of London”.
