We have has a great time this afternoon using Lego to create some fantastic stories and recording them on the Ipads.
What a fantastic day for the Year 2 Great Water Challenge!!

We have been working hard in the IT Suite on our coding skills. We have fun sending rockets into space!

We had a fantastic time at St Fagans. We met Geraint the miller who taught us how flour was ground. We looked at the features of the houses and decided we don't like the idea of an outside privvy! Thank you to all of our lovely parent helpers who came!

We have been enjoying our new Role Play, The Bakery! We are busy preparing yummy cakes and bread and then working together to use the correct money to pay for them.

We have been practising our maths by playing a London's burning boat game. We had to make sure that there was an even number of passengers aboard to be able to sail to safety.
Year 2 are all ready for our Fun Day on Monday. We've been perfecting our Egg and Spoon skills and making sure our obstacle course prowess is top notch!
We've had a great time this afternoon making African inspired music with the African drum workshop.

We have been using clay to make our very own African inspired pots. We have really enjoyed making these as you can see from the concentration on our faces.

This week we have been learning about capacity. We have been learning how to measure liquid using the measuring jug and have loved getting wet!
We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who came and supported us at our Cake Sale. We had a fabulous time and really enjoyed being business tycoons!
We have been very busy preparing for our Bake Sale on Friday. We have made Oaties and Chocolate Chip Cookies so far. Delicious!
We'd like to say a big thank you to the staff at Asda who taught us about baking and selling cakes and pastries. We also tasted some of their delicious food which is baked on site. We are  all really looking forward to our bake sale on Friday!
We have been learning al fresco and making the most of the lovely sunshine. We've been writing our Bank Holiday News and doing our weekly maths challenges.
We have been practising our Rugby skills today...watch out Sam Warburton!
We have had wonderful weather for our Easter bonnet parade. Thank you for helping the children with their wonderful creations. They all looked eggs-ellent! 
Today we made popcorn and discussed irreversible changes. It tasted delicious!

This afternoon we conducted an experiment to see which packaging is the best at protecting eggs. We managed to save 9 eggs! Well done 2BH! 
Today 2BH have been Forensic Eggsperts and have been trying to work out 'Who pushed Humpty?'

Someone has pushed Humpty Dumpty off the wall? Crime Scene Investigation!

We have been exploring movement using the apparatus.

We'd like to say a big thank you to the firefighters from Red Watch at Whitchurch Fire Brigade who visited us today. We learned about fire safety and got to look at the fire engine. 

Today we have been learning about Fair Trade products. We went to the Co-op to compare and contrast prices and to see what products are available. 
We have been programming some Beebots to follow the story of the Gingerbread Man. It was tricky because we had to think of quarter turns clockwise and anti clockwise.
We'd like to say a big thank you to Lyn from Braces Bread who showed us how to make bread.
Today 2BH have been on a world tour with Birchgrove Airways! We have visited different continents and compared temperatures.  
We have had lots of fun learning about half and quarter turns clockwise and anti clockwise. Who needs a satnav!
We have had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day. The costumes were amazing and we'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who brought a book in for the Book Swap. Happy reading!
Today we have been learning about right angles and quarter turns. We went on a right angle hunt around our classroom and school.

We have been very creative in our p.e. lesson today! We have designed our own games and tested them out in groups. Watch this space for news of a new Olympic sport!
We have been learning about Venn diagrams and how to sort using different criteria. We have sorted 3d shapes, money, even ourselves!

Today we had lots of fun creating our own sports! We used hoops, footballs, bean bags and other equipment. You never know we may have created a new Olympic event!
We'd like to say a big thank you to all of the parents who helped us on our local walk this morning. We investigated 'street furniture' and were able to distinguish between man made and natural features.

We have been on a walk in the local area looking at the surroundings for man made and natural objects.

We have been learning about different parts of Wales in our Tourist Information Board role play. We've been looking at leaflets and deciding where we'd like to go on holiday!

A visit from The Kerbcraft Roadie Team

We have been looking at the work of a famous Welsh artist Kyffin Williams and have started to make our own masterpieces!

Thank you to all at Bethel Baptist Church for the wonderful pantomime Beauty and the Beast. The children had a fantastic time.

Today we have been exploring the story of King March's Ears and have been making alternative endings and thinking of our own describing words.

We had a visit today from medical students from Cardiff Met. We learned about Asthma and how to help someone if they were having an Asthma attack.

The Really Rubbish Show

 

Today we watched The Really Rubbish Show.  We learnt all about reducing, reusing and recycling rubbish in Cardiff.  Did you know aerosols cans can be put in the green bags?! It was a great show.

We have had a very busy morning. Diamond Tennis Academy taught us tennis skills. Looks like we may have a few future Andy Murray's in the making!

We had a wonderful trip to Walnut Tree Farm. The weather was amazing and we saw lots of different animals. We went on a tractor ride, made a tally of the animals that we saw and had a lovely picnic in the sunshine.

We have been learning all about Fantastic Mr Fox. In our Thinking Groups we thought of some excellent describing words!
The children have had a very busy p.e. lesson. We have learned the basic rules of netball and have tested our endurance. Well done everyone, you may need an early night tonight!
